Quick Answer
Wulong Karst is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape about 3 hours by road from Chongqing. This private day tour leaves your hotel around 07:30, walks you through the Three Natural Bridges — Tianlong, Qinglong and Heilong — along the sinkhole valley trail with an English-speaking guide, and has you back in the city by early evening. Private vehicle, no group bus, and no shopping stops — guaranteed on every Magellan tour.
Highlights
- Stand under Tianlong Bridge, a limestone arch over 200 metres high, in a valley that feels built for giants
- Walk the full one-way trail through two giant sinkholes (tiankeng) linked by three natural bridges
- Ride the cliff-side elevator down to the valley floor — the descent is part of the show
- See the Tianfu Official Post, the courtyard made famous by Curse of the Golden Flower, and filming locations from Transformers: Age of Extinction
- Travel in a licensed private vehicle with a local driver — the mountain expressway to Wulong is not a drive to improvise

Good to Know
- Walking: ~3 km trail, 2–3 hours, with stair sections at the elevator and bridges. Comfortable shoes are non-negotiable; the valley floor can be wet and slippery after rain.
- Fitness & accessibility: The main trail is not wheelchair accessible. Travellers with knee problems should tell us in advance — we can adjust pacing and flag the stair sections honestly.
- Weather: Wulong is cooler than Chongqing city — a layer in summer, a real jacket in winter. The bridges run in rain; heavy-rain days may close the trail, and we will tell you before departure if that risk is live.
- What to bring: Passport (ticket checks), sun protection, a light rain layer, snacks for the drive if you like — there are shops at the visitor centre.
- Photography: Morning light in the sinkholes is best early; your guide knows the two spots where the whole Tianlong arch fits in one frame.
FAQ
How long is the drive from Chongqing to Wulong? About 3 hours each way (roughly 192 km) by expressway. That's why we leave at 07:30 — a 09:00 start puts you in the valley with every group bus in Chongqing. Is one day enough for Wulong? For the Three Natural Bridges, yes — it's the complete signature route. If you also want Furong Cave or Fairy Mountain overnight, ask about our 2-day Wulong option. Can I go by train instead? Yes, trains run Chongqing–Wulong, but you still need local transfers at both ends and the scenic shuttle; door-to-door by private car is simpler and, for 3+ travellers, usually comparable in cost. Is this tour suitable for children? Yes, for children comfortable walking 3 km with stairs. The elevator and the scale of the bridges are usually the highlight of their whole China trip. What if it rains? Light rain: the tour runs, and the waterfalls improve. Trail-closure rain: we reschedule or refund per the policy at booking.
